appear用作系动词,接“to be+ n。/adj。 ” 或者介词短语、动词不定式或as if/though引导的从句, to be可以省略。

I have read the article on Japanese economy appeared in yesterday's paper.

He appears (to be) very angry today.(句中的to be可省略)

She appears to have enough money to live on.

The baby seems/appears (to be) hungry.(两者都可用)

She doesn't want to go on studying. It seems a pity.(只能用seem)

He seems [appears, looks] to be very tired.

He seems [appears] to have traveled a lot.

This seems to be a happy solution.

He looks to have traveled a lot.

He just looks like his brother.

He seems like a fool.

He looks [is looking] well.

He is seeming [appearing] well.

It looks [seems, appears] as if he has lost interest in his job.

It seems [appears] that he is very tired.

为避免重复,appear和seem后接的 that 从句有时可用so, not 代之:

“Is he reliable? ” “It seems [appears] so (not).”“他可靠吗?”“似乎是可靠的(不可靠)。”

as well as的用法

1.as well as“既……

She is lively as well as healthy.

=She is both healthy and lively.

=She is not only healthy but also lively.

His friends as well as his sister were invited to the party.

3.as well as和as good as都可译为“和……

She sings as well as her mother does.

(well修饰sing)

This pen is as good as that one.

(good作表语)
